Name: Upsilon (refers to the hive as a whole)
Alias: Begins with Hokinsha (Carrier of a Disease), but any body will use the name it had in life as an alias when needed, even interchangeably (rarely).
Race: Credo
Essentially, Credo are undead hive minds.
Phenomenon scholars can only classify a race, despite the difficulties of its diversity. Credo are a hive mind that can spread throughout any race of biological origin. Hives can range from anywhere between one and a theoretically infinite amount of members. A single member, the progenitor, does exist as an individual, in the beginning of their lifecycle. These are no different than any member, but are merely the first of the hive. Progenitors seem to form when an individual that becomes a Credo somehow retains some part of their past self, though only the barest few of memories are preserved the personality remains distinct from the hive. This happens during the creation of one in about every two hundred new Credo, starting a new hive’s lifecycle. The cycle continues on when a progenitor first manages to kill a sentient life form, passing on its curse (as it is called by many non-Credo). The individual rises again, and unless a new progenitor is formed, its mind is completely destroyed. The two individuals are now indistinguishable mentally from one another; for all intents and purposes there is only one mind between all Credo in a hive. If motivated to do so, the Credo hive may continue to spread their curse.
The Credo curse seems to be just that, magical in origin. Older Credo hives have even worked spells around themselves that allow them to curse non-sentient beings, retain memories of past lives when reproducing, and other mutations. These are closely guarded secrets only given to the eldest of Credo hives. To their eternal frustration, however, it is still considered impossible for something that is not biological to become a Credo.
Whatever the case may be, unlike other undead a Credo retains a sentient mind, if a somewhat alien one, as well as a true semblance of life, keeping their origin species healing factor and feeding habits in each body, unlike most other kinds of undead. Credo have a natural form of immortality: so long as one body exists, the mind has not perished, and the curse can be passed on. In addition to their ability to reproduce (where anatomically appropriate) with members of their own hive (producing a Credo from birth), this ability to always carry on the curse allows Credo to live centuries, if not millennia.
Physical description: Hokinsha originated from a human teenage male. He stands short at five feet seven inches tall. His Credo nature presents itself in his coloration. Although he may have been Caucasian in his past life, the curse of the Credo has imparted a grey tinge to his flesh, as well as black irises with light-gray sclera and dark black hair. Hokinsha dresses in garb lesser than that f a peasant, blood and mud stained rags of unidentifiable origin.
Mentality: Upsilon is a very dazed, confused individual. With no memory of his past, Upsilon is unsure where he is going in his future. Upsilon does not yet know what he is, and thus acts mostly as a normal human would (which is unusual among Credo, who have usually long since abandoned the association with their original race). Mostly a quite type, Upsilon has calm cheerfulness about him. He seeks out ways to experience the world, almost like a child, and is up for any endeavor.
Primary weaponry: An unremarkable broadsword. It is rusted, as if from neglect, and the blade is dull. Despite this, the wielding of the weapon comes naturally to Upsilon, as a relic of his past life.
Powers: Dark Magic (by Nature of being a Credo, which is a dark creature, however Upsilon has yet to access his power), Shared Mind (once Upsilon gains more than one body, all bodies share all their experiences with each other over any distance), Ability absorb (without consciously remembering how, all bodies retain their physical fighting abilities from their past life. All magic non-Light magic is also retained as potential, but Upsilon must relearn these abilities on its own), Ability Share (all bodies share magical abilities retained by other bodies), Undead Nature (any magic designed to harm, hurt or other wise affect undead affect Credo, as they are technically undead).
Background: Upsilon is the strangest event to hit Credo in centuries. Usually, a progenitor splits from the hive at birth. However, the Upsilon progenitor existed as the mindless husk of a hive for two years before gaining an individual mind. Upsilon immediately fled from his former hive, into the Kirf Forest. The Credo of that hive are still piecing together what just happened.
That was three days ago. Upsilon is now confused, lost, with no idea who or what he is.
