The setting is a sort of Wild West. There is very little central government to speak of, only localized, usually corrupt, sheriffs. Criminals from all over the country (not the US, but it's not really any particular country) are sent to Oak Point, a penal town, where criminals are pitted together in fights to first blood The people of Oak Point don't want their entertainment to die on them after all, but when first blood happens to be last blood as well, the people of Oak Point simply cheer louder. Outside of the arena the town is lawless. The Sheriff concerned only with lining his own pocket. (Think death race meets thunder dome) The only rule is that there are no firearms in the arena, melee weapons only. For years now criminals have been slaughtering each other with the promise of freedom awaiting them. One of the new arrivals, Gaius Wolf, just wants to serve his sentence, kill who he has to, so he can get back home to his family. Oak Point, however, has different plans for him.
It should be noted, as I forgot to include this in the original post, that though the era is that of the wild west, there are many technological advancements. Last Man Standing is a reality TV show that is broadcasted across the nation in high definition. Criminals that are popular and earn the company behind the show enough money are eventually set free, though that takes years of weekly matches (Matches can range in style from Roman Colosseum to "The Most Dangerous Game" and pretty much anything in between.) Point being, that yes, there are saloons and streets made of sand, there is also high definition TV and advanced broadcasting capabilities.
If people are interested I'll post my character sheet, or a link to it. Ill set up some background and such once I have a couple people interested.
