Thorin accepted the coins with a grateful smile, but it caused a curiosity to arise. "I doubt I'll get a straight answer out of you, and if I did it'd most likely be a lie, but now that the question is in my mind, I need to get some kind of answer. So, why are you trying so hard to find this man? Paying two soveriegns to someone who only pointed you to someone who could point you to the man who could help. Hardly seems worth it unless he's wronged you in some way. Either that, or you're really "missing" him." thorin placed himself between Lucie and the door, crossing his arms as if to say "We'll be staying in here until I get some answers, and I wouldn't suggest trying to get past me without giving me them."

Lucie didn't like the situation and considered it a challenge, but she calmed herself mentally, as she'd been trained to do. "I suppose I could stay here tonight. I can answer so many questions you've thought, but not asked. Or I could just as easily make you believe lies. I suppose my real answer to what you want depends on what it is you expect from me and what you are used to. However, from what I know of dwarven politics..." She hesitated. She hadn't thought ahead. She knew nothing of this dwarf. It was clear he still smelled of dirt, but he was a surfacer now. Maybe he wasn't from Orzammar. Maybe he had just spent a long time in the deep roads because he was bored. It was clear he wasn't Legion; his face wasn't painted and he was in a tavern instead of killing darkspawn. "I shouldn't have been so assumptive. Are you from Orzammar? I didn't mean to offend you if you are not." (I like the Legion of the Dead better in the books than in the game, so I'm going by the book for what they're like. Scary ass mo fos But nice ^~^)

Thorin watched Lucie, listening to her words carefully. He hoped to try to catch her if she tried to lie. Unfortunately, he was a warrior and, although he was fairly intelligent, he wasn't cunning enough to notice any tells a person might have or notice any of the other little signs that give away when someone is lying. He was smart enough to realize, though, that she was probably a Bard sent to kill the man she was looking for. He grunted in annoyance when she asked if he was from Orzammar. "I am indeed from Orzammar. Although, I don't see what that has to do with anything."
He leaned against the door in a less challenging position. Before Lucie could say anything, he said "This man you're looking for. You've told me that you are his consort, apparently missing him. But you also mentioned that, should something happen to him, you are to recieve his personal effects. This sounds a little suspicious to me. It sounds like it could be a clever cover-up for a murderer looting the body of her victim for something specific and taking whatever else is there as her reward for completing the job. Not only that, but throwing so much money around just to find him tells me that either you want to find him for more than a good rut, or that he's a really good rut. Now, why don't you save us both some time and tell me which it is?"

So he IS from Orzammar. The reference wasn't lost. She nodded thankfully, her eyes down, looking away from the dwarf. "It's a complicated relationship. I'm more his pet than just a toy to use whenever. But...pets turn sometimes." She sighed aggressively. "Fine. The truth is I'm playing The Game for my lady. This man wronged her, in her mind, so she's hired me. Since you are, in fact, from Orzammar, it's not too much different than your politics, but much, much more fun."
She took a step toward him. "I'll find Slim. Hopefully he's as connected as you say." She took another step. "I wouldn't mind if you were to help." She walked all the way over to him, finally, and put her hand in close proximity to his chin (she couldn't quite tell where it was) and prepared to flick her wrist, if there was any resistance. "May I please leave now? I've given you the answer to your question." She realized her hand near his chin was probably going to be misunderstood, but it was more for defense than anything else.

Thorin glanced down at the hand near his chin, then looked back up at Lucie. He wasn't exactly sure what to make of it, so he just ignored it. Standing aside from the door, he said "Aye, you can go now. And I think I will go with you to find him, if for no other reason than to see how all this...whatever all this may be...plays out. Besides that, the bartender is more likely to give out information to a familiar face he knows he can trust. To a lone, strange Orlesian girl he may give false information, no matter how much coin she pays him."
Thorin let Lucie open the door and walk out first, then followed behind her. The rain had died town to a light drizzle. Most of the nobles Thorin had pulled together for the little party had paid the tab and left. The only two left were passed out on the table, drinks in hand. Thorin took a seat at the bar and waited for Lucie to ask how to find Slim. When Lucie finished telling the bartender what she chose to tell him and asking where she could find Slim, the bartender glanced at Thorin, who nodded back at him to let him know it was okay.
