Xiao watched, then picked up her pace; she was nowhere near as fast as she was when she was alone. She jumped from a building suddenly, landing with a roll on the street below. She ran through an alley across the street, then started hopping between the walls of the alley to get up higher, onto the roof. She ran across some more buildings, then dropped down before the tallest in the area. She took a quick breath and walked in confidently. The woman at the front desk nodded to her and Xiao walked past the desk with a smile, turning around to stand in front of the elevator door to wait for Will.

Will was already there. He followed after Xiao as quickly as he could. He didn't want her to seem superior to him. So, even with him being exhausted afterwards, he forced himself forward quickly, keeping up with her as she made her way there. He didn't say a word to her as he followed her to where he would have to meet the Light.

Xiao was disappointed in herself. "We're going to the third floor. I hope you have the strength to lift us." She opened the doors of the elevator, which had circles drilled into them to pull them open. The elevator itself was wooden and nicely carved. It had no ceiling, so the shaft was clearly visible. The cable came down and went through a hole in the floor. "It's been changed a little. Not sure how often you've seen elevators since The End, but I guarantee they didn't work unless they were like this one. It'll hold wherever you let go, just make sure to pull the right rope. The front one will take us up, the back one, down." She walked in and when Will was in, she closed the door behind them. "I hope you don't mind doing a little work." She held the rope, not moving until Will 'volunteered' his help.
((They can talk if you want while they go up. It's a lot of work moving an elevator by hand ^~^))

Will shrugged, taking the rope. "Like I have a choice," he muttered. But then he started pulling t hem up with the rope. From his former profession, he was in excellent shape. Like with the running, he was able to lift them extraordinarily well, considering. Therefore, it didn't take long to arrive at the third floor. "There. Now, where's this Light person at?"

"You will not speak to The Light. The Light does not talk to anyone but a select few, myself included, directly." She opened the doors to what looked like another lobby. There was another woman at the desk. "Xiao. I've finished my job. I wish to speak to The Light." The woman at the desk nodded, then looked skeptically at Will. "No, he won't be coming up. If he does, The Light will have to deal with him." She looked at Will scornfully. "You will stay here."
She walked through the double doors, shutting them behind her. She was only inside for a few minutes before returning looking worried and angry, whispering profanities. She walked over to Will. "Looks like I have to babysit you for a little longer. You'll be staying with me where I live." She frowned in clear disgust at the thought. "I don't get paid until we finish our job together. We're going to be assassinating someone together. I hope you trust me enough to shoot in your general direction while you lead someone out into the open. We've got a week. We need to study the three we have to kill. Study these. I have them memorized already. You need more than just the pictures." She showed him the three folders, then put them in her bag. "I'll hold these until you have a chance to read them." She walked into the elevator and took the rope. "Close the door behind you when you get in."

Will just got more annoyed at her clear disgust of being near him. But he followed her anyway, shutting the door behind him. "Why should I work for the Light?" he asked her. "What do I get out of this?"

Xiao smiled at him. "Are you giving me permission to kill you? Because if you don't help, I'm allowed to. It's considered treason." She was actually excited to tell him this. "And if you do anything to me, you won't get far before you get killed. Let's go." She started lowering the elevator. "We're going to get resupplied first. I'm sure you'll want food and water of your own. Not that you'll really get to keep it." She giggled. "Unless you're completely heartless." She handed him what looked like a printed receipt.
When they reached the ground floor, she opened the door and ran off, leaving the building as quickly as possible, then ran and jumped her way to the marketplace. She pulled out a slip of paper at the food vendor, who gave her some more bread (+5 loafs) and refilled her water. She thanked him and walked down the road. She didn't really care if Will followed her. If he didn't help her, she got to kill him, after all. And if he couldn't find her, he couldn't help her.
She continued to walk down the street, eventually finding what she was looking for; the orphanage. It was her home. She lived on the fifth floor, but spent most of her time with the kids. The building was very crowded, as usual, entirely with children. They were easily a third of the city's population and therefore once they reached 14 they were on their own. The building somehow still managed to stay full, with at least one child being brought in for every one that was "evicted."

Will sighed in annoyance at the girl and walked off. He found teh marketplace quickly enough, using his own receipt and then walked off. He kept his purchases close and just wandered around, not really caring for finding the girl he was forced to work with. Unfortunately for him, he found her some time later, in front of the orphanage. "So, if I have to stay with you, can you hurry up and show me to your home? I'd like to start looking at the targets if I'm forced to help you."

"We're here. I live up on the fifth floor. There's no elevator, only stairs." She walked in and ruffled the hair of some of the kids as she walked past and to the stairs on all four floors before hers. The fifth was all hers, though she didn't mind the kids in it; she didn't have much there and what she did have, she kept locked up. She made sure they all knew not to touch her rifle, though. When they reached her apartment (well, technically a loft...apartment...), she sat down on the floor and pulled the folders out of her bag. There were some kids playing, running around. "Could you go back downstairs? We have stuff to talk about that you shouldn't hear. It's boring anyway." The kids curiously looked at her, then ran to the stairs to go down, stopping with their heads just under where they could be seen. "You're still on the stairs." They ran down.

Will sat down on the bed, pulling out his pistol and placing it next to him. He held his other hand out for the files. "I suppose I better start reading if I'm going to be forced to work with you," he said quietly. "Unless you have anything else to add before I read up on them.:
