Tora "Tiger" Born Célestin Beauchene
Sold as a "slave of lust" when he was eight by a man named Edward Coates. The man saw potential in him when he passed him on the street one day, seeing his unusual eyes; one the color of the sea, another of a plum. His unusually feminine features made him easy to disguise as a young girl for a much larger profit. The seller had little to do with the actual dressing of Tora, and only saw him once afterward; just as he was being sold across the ocean in Selelio. Tora continued to dress as a girl since then so he wouldn't be found as easily by Edward once the buyer refused to pay.
The color of his eyes was a result of an unexplained genetic alteration when Tora was five. He had become very ill one day and his eyes began to change to their current color and glossiness, his metabolism became much faster, his body mass decreased, and facial features lost some masculinity (though this shows more now than it did on an already ambiguously-gendered five year old).
One day, Tora wishes to see his family again, even if he has to see them with his new identity and never reveal to them who he is. For now, however, he is willing to ignore them and get his revenge on those who kidnapped and sold him. Until he can be sure he won't be hounded by those who he believes would bring him harm, he is forced to live as Tora. He won't openly admit it, of course, but he really doesn't mind it at all, as he feels more comfortable to be himself as a girl.
Tora has a strong dislike of anyone who is average. He quickly loses interest in people if they're "boring" (what's boring changes a little bit over time, but not by much) and breaks off any type of relationship with them.
Having no way of getting home, no form of identification, and no money, Tora has been living in the streets of the city. He's gotten some assistance, and even stayed with an artist for a while (until they were evicted), where he got his shirt. Being young, it wasn't too hard for him to get food or money from people who felt sorry for him, especially when he told his story to them (leaving out that he was actually a boy, which worked, as his voice changed almost unnoticeably at puberty). Combined with an adorable Hanaanite accent, he could get almost anything from anyone who cared at all. Wanting to be self-sufficient, he almost always refuses to live with anyone.
Tora believes that fate is nothing but a fancy word for "unexplained cause and effect relationships", believing that everything happens as a result of something else. The belief to him seems far more structured than "Everything happens for a reason", "God works in mysterious ways", or any other similar statement. He does follow a system of beliefs that comes from his family and things he's seen: There is a Goddess, and her name is Maleol. She revels in chaos, but not openly; true chaos is silent and unexpected, but can be traced back to a set of actions. Maleol left the world when she tired of the predictability, and will return when silent chaos fills it. Tora sees himself as the one and only priest(ess) of Maleol, and must therefore act as such; the puppeteer of the great chaos. That isn't to say he's egotistical (as that would make people less likely to fall for his deception), just that he believes even the smallest action can snowball into a world war.
Eyes: Heterochromic teal and plum, highly reflective Hair: Light Brown, wavy, chest-length, neat, soft, clean Height: 5'5" Weight: 114 lbs. Age: 15 3/8 Gender: Physically Male
Skills Sewing, Knitting, Dancing (Formal), Running, Swimming, Painting, Urban Scavenging, Urban Exploration, Persuasion
Likes Food of any kind, Dancing Dislikes Excessively fancy clothes, slavery, alcohol, men with unusual hair, vanilla (the flavor, the scent, and people who match it)
Clothing/Stuff Homemade tiger printed white tee, with the tiger covering the majority of his chest; knee-length, layered, asymmetrical circle skirt(s) in black; mary jane pumps; black purse (Important contents inside: A small roll of cash in an equally small velvet bag, a switchblade, half a ham and cheese sandwich wrapped in plastic, and small bottle of mace).
Spells Boxcutter: As it sounds, it can cut through boxes or other soft materials like flesh, up to half an inch deep. The "blade" extends from his index finger. Seal: The exact opposite of boxcutter. Only rejoins the same material to itself, so wounds can be closed and cut cardboard returns to normal. The index finger has to touch the material to be sealed and trace the edges, like a zipper. Track: Tora can find anyone if he has their blood, as long as their body isn't burned to nothing or in another dimension. Or something like that. This spell is tremendously obvious, though, and will attract attention if anyone's around. Numb: Numbs pain. As it sounds. Lasts as long as Tora maintains it, but while he's maintaining it, he can't use any other spells.

Shiloh Eirawyn Brown hair with frosted tips, dull blue eyes, slight tan on shoulders, but otherwise very pale. Her facial features are angular and birdlike, but not wholly unattractive. Deaf, but hears voices that tell her to do things. This hearing extends to an unsettling feeling down her spine she has determined to be laughter, and an ache in her jaw that represents anger. These spirit voices even sometimes make her see things that appear to be completely real in front of her. She has learned when they're trying go show her something because of the orangish haze at the edges of her vision. They sometimes also give objects that orangish haze to tell her to interact with them. If she chooses not to cooperate, she feels the sensation of being hanged, and the flesh of her wrists and neck stretches and begins to peel away. This isn't permanent, but it is incredibly painful for the days it takes to heal. However, if she willingly cooperates, without question, she gains a limited ability to manipulate and shape things around her. Non-living things are fairly simple to shape, though she can't change it much. She can change living things, like flesh, though it's significantly more dangerous; no matter what she changes, the spirits consume her blood, but they consume more if she changes flesh. The reshaped objects are effected normally by physics once they're finished being shaped, and nothing changes about them but their shape (so she can't make diamonds from coal, or turn lead into gold). This shaping sounds like the object is being scraped by stone, and required actual physical shaping of the object. While she can use this ability to mend flesh wounds, it generally consumes more blood than it saves. It's really only practical for what would be a fatal wound, and only if done almost immediately. Overuse of this power (almost any use, at this point) causes her to cry blood and have a nosebleed. She's fairly good with knives; she learned to use them because it's easy for her to sharpen them, but she'd never win against someone with military training or a successful street fighter.
Type (F/M/T): Mage Magic: Blood Magic (Manipulation) Notes: Deaf, Magic Dependant on Cooperation with Unseen Spirits Carries: Kitchen Knife strapped to her lower leg, with the handle above her sock, the blade inside Wears: A tan, tiered skirt to the middle of her shins, long tabi socks, a white formal tank, a men's purple-and-gray plaid, button-down, heavy cotton shirt, and a stretchy black headband.
(Once we decide on a genre, there will be more. Also, this is a significantly shorter version of the magic than what I had written originally.)

Alice316, 19 years Qualities and Flaws: Stunted Growth (Size she was at 12, but not full neoteny, as she has developed otherwise) Faction: Akara (Offshoot of the Nardath, own a biodome off the coast of an ocean, and are protected from the outside, though they send people out to bring back more people to diversify the gene pool within, or some helpful piece of technology (or information on how to make it). Laws inside dictate each family must have one child, whether it's theirs or not. Some people even bring back just a child to bypass the law. Alice316 is one of the ones who was sent out. Think Quarians from Mass Effect for a similar idea with the pilgrimages and insular society.) Left arm tattooed with gears, springs, and other clockwork, while right arm is tattooed with mossy stones, vines, and leaves. Back blends both, and also has А316юл3щ54 (A316yul3sch54 in Russian alphabet) tattooed down her spine at an angle so that it can be clearly read when she lies down on her left side. Her face has text on it as well: 앨릿 (Korean "Alice") is written on her lower left eyelid, and under that is སྙིང་རྫེ་ (it's tibetan script, so I doubt you can actually see it, but it just says nying-je: "compassion"), written sideways again, like the one on her back, both in dark black ink. Her thighs have the same tattoos their corresponding arms have. Her feet are tattooed with tribal designs that look vaguely like the underlying bones. Each of her irises glows with a faint blue-green light, though not enough to be useful with night vision, save for reading things a foot away, at the most. Her hair is a dark shade of brown with hints of auburn, and is in a pair of long twintails and wearing a cat ear headband in exactly the same color as her hair, in addition to the white ribbons holding the twintails. What flesh on her isn't tattooed is almost unnaturally pale; she views this as a perfect canvas for art. Her facial features are sharp, but not so much as to look like a bird, and fairly wide. Combined with her large eyes and small jaw, this makes her look mildly like a cat. She wears brown-tinted goggles with a black strap, a black tank top under a layer of ballistic armor, and well-fitted pants with key points armored with ballistic plates, and chain mail hanging loosely behind her knees. The chain mail is coated with rubber to reduce noise, but not so much as to make it easy for her to sneak up on an alert opponent. While she carries a katana, which hangs loosely from a thin belt behind her, this is mostly for show. She also carries a light pistol with a scope on top, a silencer on the end of the barrel, and flashlight/laser sight combo duct taped underneath, but again, this is primarily for show. Her real weapons are her bare hands, as well as her arms and legs; her skeleton is ceramic laced and titanium coated. Since this was done before she finished growing, she is only 4'6", and despite her heightened metabolism and resulting 22" waist, she is still 157 lbs. Her reflexes are enhanced, as well, by means of internal wires, batteries (recharged by a patch of solar-sensitive synthetic skin at the base of her cervical bones), and processors, but as this is a newly developed, untested technology, she has occasional tics and spasms. The same system both amplifies her tactile sensitivity in her hands and dulls it everywhere she's tattooed (except her face, which still maintains normal sensitivity). That is, in fact, the primary purpose of the tattoos. It only dulls any pain, however, not enough for her to not notice it.
Current effects of all tech enhancements: Jitters, random tics and spasms (especially when in direct sunlight for extended periods of time), bones are much denser and harder to break
Katana and pistols are not primary weapons, and she has never actually trained with them, but she has some martial arts (subdual combat) training and stealth training (so she can feed herself, essentially).

Human name: Lauren Smith Human Characteristics/Appearance: Mostly described as adorable, both in (outward) personality, and in appearance. She's only recently in high school, and not familiar with some of the nuances. She has blonde hair, parted to the side, and heterochromatic eyes (one green, one brown). The 25% Korean ancestry seems to show more than the 50% Ukrainian or the remaining Romanian, at least in the shape of her eyes and face. The fact that she's adopted hasn't really been an issue so far. Age: 15 Powers: Incognito Height: 4'11" Weight: 108 lbs
Kaiju Name: Mosphous Kaiju Characteristics/Appearance: Amorphous blob that takes on the properties of whatever it touches. It can look however it wants, so long as it's made of materials it's in contact with (in addition to flesh, blood, and water), so it could be a nightmare-fuel haunted house with bleeding walls, redirecting hallways, and mysterious noises. Or it could hide as an office building. Or a mysterious cave. Powers: Mimicking, Absorption Height: Up to 100 meters Weight: Based on what it's touching.

Jenny (No surname)Alien - Unidentified - Clone"My father is a doctor; I never know when I'll see him again." Flow | 5 ||||| | Allure | 3 ||| | Craft | 5 ||||| | Hope | 5 ||||| | Acuity | 3 ||| | Force | 2 || | Scale | 2 || |
Gear: 7-chamber Revolver w/ Laser Sight; a glove featuring advanced technology on her left hand, reaching halfway up her lower arm* that she received as a gift from her father; a wireless headset with goggles that only reacts to gestures from her glove (one of her own inventions); military green tee shirt; Basic fatigue pants; Blank dog tag she's had since birth; Black-rimmed glasses with no frames *Glove features: - Smart Phone
- Teslic Arc ("Lightning Bolt") weapon (up to 2 times per day, depending on usage, though the second use is entirely at her own risk, since it drains the last of the power reserves for up to a day)
- "Sonic Swiss Army Knife," though how this works even she doesn't know. She just has to point, and it does the rest.
- Hacking Peripheral and Virtual Assistant
- Biological Diagnostic Assistant (Can tell general health information; cannot administer first aid)
- A laser pointer for teasing animals, among other uses
- A super bright flashlight
- Seems to regenerate power on its own
Appearance: Appears about 25 years old, but is actually about to turn 224. Her light brown hair is side-parted, with her bangs covering half of her right eye. Her eyes are grey-blue, and never seem to focus on any one thing for too long. While her skin is pale, it's still apparent that she spends time in the sun. She doesn't look to weigh more than fifty four and a half kilos, is only a little over a meter and half tall, and has no augmentations. She has no belly button, and no fingerprints. Racial Notes: - Quick regeneration
- Can restore lost limbs, usually within an hour or so.
- Cannot accept augmentations, be they cybernetic or genetic in nature. This includes tattoos, piercings, and other common modifications.
- Can come back from the brink of death, so long as her body isn't completely destroyed, though this can take up to a week, depending on the damage.
- Cannot reproduce naturally...at least not with humans, and to the best of her knowledge, the only other member of her race is her father.
- Supernaturally intelligent, agile, and compassionate (though her father's words played a part in this, for what little time she knew him)
- Has two hearts.
Avatar: An elven rogue, though due to her glove, can cause some minor manipulations within the world, in the form of illusions and minor (VERY minor) psychokinetic powers. In this form, she only carries a scimitar as a weapon. She also has a raccoon-and-ermine-like pet that seems to be a product of the glove, and she has limited control over it, though otherwise it just acts like it's very well trained. Unlike in the real world, her avatar can reproduce, possesses only the normal regenerative levels, and has only one heart. Notes: - She never takes off her glove. Ever. Some people she's known for a while don't think it does come off, like her regeneration grafted it to her skin. She laughs at the idea, but doesn't deny it.
- As she cannot be augmented, she has to rely on her glove and headset to interact with the Abyss.
- She never talks about her mother, and claims to not have one when pressured into answering.
- While difficult to kill, she has more than once had her regeneration used against her.
- She calls herself a "greater good pacifist," and almost always attempts a more diplomatic approach first, even offering a warning/choice to those she believes it necessary to kill. In any case, she remembers and regrets every single life taken.
- She is afraid of:
- Having more than one shadow.
- Angel statues that appear to be crying.
- Augmented water animals.
- She is a very quick learner, usually picking up a new skill just by watching it done once, even if she watched it done in a video. She's by no means a master, though.

Gear: None; she stays entirely in the Abyss and possesses no body outside, instead making herself at home in whatever electronics she may find, including, but not limited to, toasters, antique computer terminals, large appliances, other AI's drones, and even once inside the mind of a human, though she doesn't know how it happened nor how she escaped. Avatar: The specifics of her appearance vary by who looks at her. Who REALLY looks at her. She has no true appearance, though one thing is always the same: A masquerade mask covers her entire face. The mask itself varies, of course, though is most frequently seen as a raven or a plague doctor. Her data itself shifts around, and dances between sources in the Abyss. Her magic is just that: she cannot be found unless she wants to, she cannot be remembered unless she wants to, and she can ignore certain features of the Abyss, like walls, if she so chooses. Specifically, she can pass through anything not originally in the Abyss. She refuses to tell anyone anything about herself, or at least the truth, and claims that everyone has seen her at some point, somewhere in the world outside the Abyss.

Adrianna "Tori" Balder, 15 year old girl Aliases: Squish, Rat Princess Personal Knacks: One free adjective point and one free profession point. Recent History: She has lived in the city for years, though she was recently contacted by another mage. She is a cute, agile mage. She is a dangerously curious, very intelligent professional hacker. Additionally, she has is very creative. She is very suspicious of people outside of her social group, and is also weak. She is very motivated by a need for entertainment, but also by a desire to learn new things. She is disinterested in money, but unlikely to turn down someone in desperate need. Carries two smartphones, a casting glove, and a messenger bag containing: {A plushy rat, a 7" tablet computer, a pen stylus for the tablet, a couple notebooks filled with ”arcane" doodles and code snippets, pencils, pens, an extra outfit, and a literal handful of extra SD cards} Auxiliary Information The tablet and one of her phones both have a custom operating system, and both work off of pirated connections through other nearby phones and devices with internet access (meaning she can't connect to the internet unless someone else is nearby). Her tablet is her primary "spellbook", in which she creates different "spell" effects. Her phone has a synced list of spells for quick and easy selection, organized by how quickly a particular spell effect may be needed. Her "spellbook" phone is always connected to her tablet and casting glove, but cannot use this connection to do anything online. Her second phone works normally, and has a standard connection, though she has blocked access to it from her other devices. Otherwise, it is...a phone. Nothing special. Her plushy rat, whom she calls "Ben" she views as an arcane focus, despite him having no actual effect on spellcasting. The SD cards have a wide variety of saved content, though most have very little, if anything, on them. Her parents work a lot, and as such, don't realize she's almost never home, even to eat. She relies on her allowance from her parents for the majority of her money, but she prefers to barter when she can, preferring to offer favors and services for things she wants.
* Mage (2-Point Profession) A tech-shaman, particularly attuned to urban sprawls- Additional Equipment: A casting glove. This item allows the wearer to use preprogrammed "spell" effects within the glove's capabilities. The use of these effects drains the internal batteries, though these regenerate power very slowly over time. Because of this, it may not have power for a spell at an inopportune time if used too frequently. The "spellbook" phone usually shows how much power the glove has, and the entries for the spells say approximately how much power they will use. - Note: This profession must be taken in order to use the glove. If taken later, a casting glove must be obtained and linked to the wearer's phone. This profession specifically covers the use of the glove; anyone can program a spell effect if they have the appropriate skill set. It does not aid in the creation of spell effects. * System Notes Base Character Points - 5 Adjectives
- 3 Professions
- 3 Motivations
A character can have additional adjectives and/or motivations if they take an equal number of negative adjectives and/or some demotivations. Profession points cannot be gained in this way. - Genre: Modern Urban Science Fiction with Dark and/or Gritty Themes.
- "Magic" is typically practical and those who use it are not open about its existence. They do not want it to be available to the dangerously naive general public.
- Players can take two knacks of their choice to custom-tailor their character(s) (usually, this constitutes an unnatural language, like being able to talk with a specific kind of animal). The presented "Human" option is the standard by which others are compared.
- Professions are a skill set. Someone with the Doctor profession listed doesn't have to have ever set foot in a hospital, or even an institute of higher learning, even with the "professional" or "master" adverbs.
- Adjectives and Professions give one point toward the success roll of a task. Very before an adjective makes the adjective give an additional point toward success. Any other positive adverb can be used for a third bonus point. This is also the number of adjective points they cost during character creation.
- Professions have the same cost as adjectives, but give bigger bonuses. A profession gives 1 point, while a professional level profession gives three points, and a master level profession gives 5.
- Rewarded experience is used directly to improve a character, though the change must be accounted for in the story. Additionally, it takes more points to upgrade a character than it does during character creation; it costs 1 point to get a new adjective or profession, two points to upgrade an adjective with very, three points to upgrade a very adverb to a higher one or to upgrade a profession to the professional level, and five points to upgrade a professional level profession to the master level. There is also a higher level for both adjectives and professions: Legendary. This upgrade costs ten points, regardless, and gives a bonus of 5 for an adjective, and 7 for a profession.
- Motivations and demotivations can be upgraded or downgraded, as well, at a cost of one point per level up or down. There is no reward for giving a demotivation later on, nor is there a reward for weakening a motivation, though motivations can be used to improve rolls as well, so long as the motivation applies.
- Any number of adjectives, professions, and motivations/demotivations can apply to a single test, in theory. There is a bonus cap of +10 points to a single task to avoid making tasks guaranteed successes.
- After these points are determined, the player rolls a six-sided die for the task. She adds the result to the points from her adjectives and such. If she rolls a 6, she adds the six, then rolls again. This is called "Exploding." If she rolls a 1, she adds the 1 and rolls again, this time subtracting the result. This is called "Imploding." Imploding and exploding can be done endlessly, but not at the same time. If the player's roll implodes then explodes, she adds the 1, subtracts the 6, and that is the final result. The same is true the other way around; she would add 6, then 1.

Gear: Stun Baton and Fancy Clothes. Additionally, has AR-enabled glasses. She has a Depth Rig implant capable of both wired and wireless connections, which is customized for speed, and allows minor hacks in the Depths (her progenitor made sure it was limited on purpose). Her right arm is cybernetic, custom-tailored to match her other arm, and shielded from both corrosion and EMPs. She also has a grooming and makeup kit. Appearance: A force-grown clone of her progenitor, Aggie is only 3 years old, but mentally and physically equivalent to a 24 year old. She is 5'2" and weighs 100 lbs exactly. Her eyes are bright green, and her waist-length pale brown hair is usually in one to four almost always un-braided pigtails, depending on her mood in the morning. Avatar: A Bunny Hybrid. She carries all the equipment in the image, as well as a longbow. Otherwise identical to this. Notes: Is not particularly fond of being thought of as dispensable by most people. Thankfully, her progenitor has raised her more like a sister than a "replacement" or worker. The two are often in the Depths together, but recently Aggie has been given more freedom to do as she will. Note that Aggie is what her progenitor calls her for official purposes, as her progenitor is named Agatha, but usually calls her Sam/Sammy/Samantha (depending on her mood).
